About Me
I enjoy my work, because I love people. I love talking to people, empowering people, encouraging people. I love asking questions, seeking understanding, and meeting the needs of others. My passion is to see lives and relationships transformed into what they are meant to be. I see my career as my mission.

I believe… that every person has immeasurable value, regardless of their circumstances… and every person deserves respect.
I believe… that “normal” people can find themselves overcome by stress, dissention, grief, loneliness, and misunderstanding.
I believe… that when we face adversity, we tend to be resilient. We overcome obstacles and trials every day; but when we feel overburdened, we may need help to utilize our numerous (often untapped) strengths and resources.
I believe… that there are no lost-causes. I believe that every marriage can be salvaged, as long as partners are willing and ready to work hard and stay committed. I believe that families can learn to live together in peace. I believe that individuals can learn to manage and take control of their mental health.
I believe…IN YOU. I believe that working together, I can help you find your way. I can help you feel strengthened and encouraged. I can help you reach the goals you have for your life, your family, and your relationships.
I’m Jennie Murphy, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (LMFTI) in Simpsonville, SC.
I have a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University Calumet, and a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Georgia.
I specialize in family therapy, couples therapy, and the treatment of anxiety disorders. I also have a special interest in family caregiving and families with teenagers. My therapeutic approach is grounded in systems theory and incorporates evidence-based practices.
I’m a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and was awarded their national Thesis Award in 2014 for my graduate research on family caregiving. I’m also an active member of First Baptist Simpsonville. I am cat-obsessed and love to be outside.
If you have any questions, just ask! I want to help you determine if I’m the right therapist for you.
